Bereavement and Memorial:

  • We are grieved to announce the passing of our long-standing member Sidney Grunebaum, z"l. The funeral took place on Sunday, April 10, at the Rehovot cemetery. The family will be sitting in Sidney's home, 27/1 Herzog, through Friday afternoon, April 15. The number there is 08-947-1130. Davening times are Shacharit: 06:15, MIncha: 19:00, Ma'ariv: 19:30. SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS

  • Maot Chittim. The tzeddaka Committee wishes to remind those who have not yet sent their donations for Maot Chittim to do so as soon as possible. Last year we were able to help more than 300 families.  Please be generous and send your contributions this week, so we can reach out to people before the chag, Thanking you as always for your kindheartedness. Checks should be marked "for the Tzeddaka Fund" can be given to any member of the Tzeddaka Committee (Rebecca Krausz, Jerry Kriger, Rivka Kronengold, Freida Sarfati-Ollech, or Sandy Sampson), or to Larry Israel or Gerry Tanny. 
     
  • **Tonight** Lecture (in Hebrew). Naama Galil, head of projects in Yad Vashem Department of Commemorations and Community Relations, will speak on "The Rifle, Pen, and Paintbrush in Service of the Jewish Undergrounds during the Holocaust period".  Thursday April 14 at Berman. Maariv at 19:50, lecture at 20:00. Detailed flier on the Noticeboard.

  • The Shabbat haGadol Shiur (in English) will be given by R' Arye Frimer this Shabbat afternoon between Minha and Maariv. The shiur will discuss the Piyyut: vaYehi baHatsi haLayla ויהי בחצי הלילה. Please bring a haggada with a translation.
     
  • Sale of Chametz. מכירת חמץ The form for selling chametz (Rehovot Rabbinate) is available on the Noticeboard. After completing the form, please return it to Jerry Kriger by putting it in his mailbox at Pinsker 4 [Do not ring the bell!] by Wednesday evening April 20th. Tzeddaka checks for Maot Chittim may be delivered in the same manner. Forms left in his mailbox after the 20th will not be brought to the Rabbanut. Jerry also has "hard" copies of the chametz form at morning minyan, which you can complete and submit- no later than Thursday April 21 at Shacharit.

    Some of the important highlights from the CRC Guide are as follows (taken from page 3 (fifth page in full booklet)):
    *All pill medication (with or without chometz) that one swallows is permitted without special hashgocha. Vitamins and Food supplements do not necessarily fall under this category.
    *All chewable pills that have kitniyot are permitted for one who is ill.
    *Liquid medications that contain kitniyot are permissible for one who is ill.
    *All varieties of body soaps, shampoos and stick deodorants are permitted for use on Pesach regardless of their ingredients.
    *All types of ointments, creams, nail polish, hand lotions, eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, foot and face powders, and ink and paint may be used regardless of their ingredients.

  • Hod Yisrael, the charity organization in Rehovot is accepting unopened packages of chametz at 2 Goldberg Street (next to the Rabbanut) during the week before Pesach at the following times and dates: Sun 17 April: 10:00 – 13:00 and 18:00 -20:00; Mon 18 April: 10:00 – 12:00 and 16:30 – 20:00; Tues 19 April: 10:00 – 12:00 and 15:00 – 20:00; Wed 20 April: 10:00 – 12:00 and 16:00 – 18:00; Thurs 21 April: 10:00 – 12:00.
     
  • **Tomorrow** Free concert. On April 15, at 11:00, the Hadarei Ron Choir of Rehovot will be performing as part of the series of (free) Friday morning concerts in the new Beit Ha’Am, sponsored by the Rehovot Municipality. The repertoire will consist of a wide selection of popular Israeli music, almost exclusively arranged by the choir’s conductor, Avi Faintoch.
