• Mazal Tov to Ruth and Mark Lavie on the Bat Mitzvah of their granddaughter Yael, the youngest child of Haggai and Miri Lavie. The family celebrated in Jerusalem on Shabbat Shuva.

• Mazal Tov to Evelynne and Hershell Goldman on the engagement of their grandson Ariel Goldman, son of Adam and Amy (nee Kahn) Goldman of Sharon, MA, to Talia Kirshblum, daughter of Reva and Ari Kirshblum of West Hempstead, NY. Mazal Tov to Ariel’s grandparents Harriet (nee Solomont) and Robert Kahn (Newton, MA and Florida), and to Talia’s grandparents Cecile and Bernie Strauch and Leona Kirshblum.

SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS תזכורות, אירועים ופעילויות של בית הכנסת

• Volunteers needed to help put up the shul sukka today Friday (Sept 17th) at 13:30. If you can make it, please just come.
• Thank you! to all those who made it happen: 5 Minyanim, 4 locations, over 500 attendees, and 1,100 shofar blasts. This year, again, the shul called upon a small army of helpers, including the more visible contributions of the Gabbaim and Minyan coordinators, Chazanim and Ba'alei t'filla, those who lained, and blew shofar; the set up crew, chair and equipment shleppers; airconditioner setters, gate openers and all those who contributed to our holiday tefillot. A huge thank you to the House Committee who provided outdoor lighting and other critical amenities; mechitza hangers; website and treasury people who facilitated sign up, and updated the ever-changing calendars; Hospitality Committee, who made sure everyone has a place to eat over chag; Kiddush Committee and workers, who helped break the fast, and feed us every week; coordinators of the unaffiliated minyanim, who invited members of the shul to participate freely, hence reducing crowding; our President for keeping it all together; and everyone who participated with cooperation and good cheer.
• Kids who meet green pass requirements are welcomed at [indoor] minyanim. This includes kids under age 3, and kids of any age who are immunized, recovered, or have a valid negative Corona test. Masks covering the nose and mouth must be worn by all attendees over age 6.

• Tallit Lost on Shabbat Parashat Nitzavim. If someone accidentally took a Tallit (white stripes and handmade fringes) from outside the bathroom on Shabbat Parashat Nitzavim (Sept 4th), please return it to David Barkai (054-2549297) or one of the Gabbaim.

Sukkot:

• Holiday guides. Like the High Holidays, Sukkot is a period rich with mitzvot, custom and ritual, personal and communal. This year, the need to minimize the possibility of Corona contagion and hence, the duration of physical contact in Shul, make it necessary to shorten the duration of the Sukkot Davening and maintain social distancing. The Halakha Committee of the Shul has drawn up guidelines to facilitate this goal – which will be implemented over the Sukkot Holiday. The guides can be seen at the below links or on the Noticeboard.

  On a personal level, many find the plethora of Mitzvot and rich details of the Sukkot Holiday challenging. In addition, because of Covid-19, many individuals have chosen to pray completely or partially be-yehidut (in the absence of a minyan). To this end, Rabbi Aryeh Frimer has drafted the guides below which will hopefully assist congregants in navigating through the various issues.
