Births:

  • Mazal Tov to Rachel and Joel Rabinowitz, on the birth of a grandson, a son born to their children Adi and  Noam Bedein of Nokdim. Mazal Tov as well to grandparents David and Sarah Bedein of Efrat. The baby's great-grandfather, Zeev Bill Rosenblum z'l, was one of the founding members of the Berman Shul.
     
  • Mazal Tov to Honey and Yehuda Berenson on the birth of a great-grandson. Mazal Tov as well to the parents, Tsvia and Re’em Ben Artzi of Etz Efraim and grandparents, Ilana and Michael Berenson of Kedumim.

Bereavement and Memorial:

  • We regret to announce the passing of Lorna Harris z"l, the mother of our member Diane Gordon. Diane is sitting shiva in London through Friday morning, 15.1. She can be contacted on a land line after 3pm Israel time, at 0044 208 446 9711, or on her mobile phone, at 054 4590971.   • The azkarah marking Rachel Garfinkel's z"l  19th yahrzeit and Lenny Garfinkel's z"l  11th yahrzeit will take place at the Rehovot cemetery, IY"H, on Friday, 22 January 2016  (12 Shevat 5776) at 10 a.m. Their children and extended family  - both here and abroad - continue to be touched and comforted by the community's loyalty to Rachel's and Lenny's memories over all the years. Yehi zichram baruch. The annual women's Kabbalat Shabbat in Rachel's memory will be scheduled at a later date.

SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS

  • **THIS WEEK** The 2016 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Bermans membership will be held on Motzai Shabbat Bo, January 16, 2016 at 20:00. 
     
  • Materials for the AGM, including non-audited financial report and budget, the audit committee report, and board minutes (now including the last two meetings) are available in the documents section of our website (members only, scroll down for 2015 board minutes, and 2016 AGM). Please check back frequently as updates will be added as they come in. 
     
  • Miniminyan is back! This Shabbat Prashant "Bo" - All 4-6 year olds (and their parents) are invited to participate in the new miniminyan program that will take place in the Bet-midrash. We will start at 9:45 with Tefilila, stories, and games, and end with a kids' Kiddush.
  • המינימניין חוזרהשבת פרשת בא - ילדים (גיל 4-6) מוזמנים להשתתף בתוכנית החדשה של המינימניין שתתקיים בבית מדרש. נתחיל ב 9:45 עם תפילת ילדים, סיפורי פרשת שבוע, משחק ונסיים עם קידוש ילדים.
     
  • Help provided and needed. If there is an immediate family member who is very ill or in the hospital, and you need help with meals, please contact Ayala Meisels at ayala.meisels@gmail.com. We ask members to respond and sign themselves up when meal requests are publicized. 
     
  • The topic of Eitan Ronen's Tuesday night shiur (20:30-21:15) this coming week will be "woman and tefillin".  Please check the live calendar for weekly updates.
     
  • Torah readers needed for Sefer Vayikra. To volunteer, please contact Rami Shanani. And a request from Rami: The list of Tora readers is hanging on the bulletin board at the entrance to the shul. To prevent misunderstandings or scheduling glitches, anyone who is slated to read should confirm by checking the list that they are correctly assigned, and anyone who is planning a simcha at which a family member would like to read, is asked to book their event as early as possible by contacting Jerry Kriger.

  • Shvat Jointly Sponsored Yahrtzeit Kiddush. The Shvat Yahrtzeit JSK will be held on Shabbat, Parshat Beshalach (23.1.2016). To participate in this kiddush, please contact Rachel Schecter no later than Friday, January 15th. Participation: 150 NIS.

  • Shabbat hazanut, at the Beit Zeltser Shul- Rechov Baal Shem Tov  on  Friday 15.1.16 at 4:45 PM. Chazan Tzudik Greenwald will lead the t'fillot with the New Rehovot Choir, Shirat Rechovot,  including  over 30 voices under the baton of Yankele Rotner. In addition, on Shabbat morning, they will be participating in Shacharit, starting at 8:15 AM. On Friday night at 9 PM there  will be an Oneg Shabbat in Beit Zeltser.
     
  • Small rental apartment needed. My name is Lenny Margulis and I will be making aliya with my family in 2016. I have a job offer in Rehovot and I will be initially coming alone without my family at the end of February/beginning of March. I would like to rent a small apartment or room in walking distance from Berman shul until I find something suitable for the family.
