• Mazal tov to Adele and Tuvia Muskin on the marriage of their son Motti to Shulamit Miller, daughter of Rabbi Daniel and Miriam Miller of Kedumim. 

• The azkarah marking Rachel Garfinkel's z"l 18th yahrzeit and Lenny Garfinkel's z"l 10th yahrzeit will take place at the Rehovot cemetery, IY"H, this Friday, 30 January 2015  (10 Shevat 5775) at 10:00 AM. The annual women's Kabbalat Shabbat in Rachel's memory will be held IY"H on Friday evening 30 January 2015 (Parashat BeShalach) at the Kanners, 41 HaShomrim, at 17:00. The family - both here and abroad - wish to thank the community for the continued loyalty to Rachel's and Lenny's memories over all the years.

SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS:

• Water stoppage. The municipality has announced that there may be a water stoppage or interruptions of service from 22:00 tonight (Thursday) until sometime around mid-day on Friday. Everyone is advised to fill pots and buckets and prepare accordingly. More info from the municipal hotline, dial 106.

• Lost and found- Coat switch. One of our members accidentally took home a size medium black jacket that is not his. He will be more than happy to return it to its rightful owner. Please identify yourself by email to bermanshul@gmail.com. 

• The AGM has been rescheduled for Motzaei Shabbat Yitro, February 7 at 20:00. Materials for the AGM are available for members on our website: They can also be accessed on Google-drive.
• Lecture and presentation. Solution to Your Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) Problems. Sunday February 22, 2015 at 19:30 at Bermans. Speakers: Philip Weiss, a CPA (USA) with over 25 years experience. Phil specializes in U.S. income tax planning and compliance; Katherine Lapidoth, Pioneer Wealth Management. Senior Wealth Manager, licensed in the U.S. and Israel, serving the U.S. community in Israel for more than 27 years; and Leon Harris, Israeli CPA and a UK Chartered Accountant, head of Harris Consulting & Tax Ltd (HCAT), which provides accountancy, taxation and corporate finance services for companies, individuals, charities and trustees. Leon writes a weekly tax column in the Jerusalem Post, and other periodicals.

• Please send names (3 maximum) to gabbai@bermanshul.org (preferably by Thursday) or write them out and give to the Gabbaim before kriat hatora. Names must be resubmitted anew every week and will be read on the following Shabbat morning. This is intended for people with a acute health issues; if you would like a misheberach for somebody with a chronic illness, please recite the person's name by yourself during the prayer.

• Urgently needed- Donations of winter clothes and blankets. Urgently needed for four indigent families in Rehovot: warm blankets, room heaters, warm winter coats, warm pajamas for elementary age school children.
