• Mazal Tov to Naveh Dym, grandson of David a”h and Susie Dym, great-grandson of Irene a”h and Harry Dym, and of Lee a”h and Ruth Segel, who won the annual Jerusalem Tanach competition for schoolchildren this week, which included 30 schools. Mazal tov also to Naveh’s parents Efrat and Nadav and to the entire extended Dym family.

• מזל טוב לנווה דים, נכדם של דוד ע"ה וסוזי דים, נינם של איירין ע"ה והרי דים ושל לי ע"ה ורות סגל, שזכה השבוע במקום הראשון בחידון התנ"ך הירושלמי לילדי ממ"ד שנערך ב-30 בתי"ס בבירה. מזל טוב גם להורים של נווה, אפרת ונדב, ולכל המשפחה.

• Help wanted - Kiddush Manager. Seeking part-time employee to be Shul's Kiddush Manager. Requirements: Shabbat and Chag supervision, and driver’s license. • Facilities. The Yeshiva campus on the other side of the fence is private property and an active boarding school. The Shul has not been granted access to this area, except for very specific activities (e.g., high holiday Minyanim). Please do not enter these areas of the campus, and please make sure that your kids do not climb the fence.
• Members are encouraged to add their photographs to the Shul directory. To do so, log in to the Shul website [www.bermanshul.org], and go to the "member pages" drop-down menu, and from there to "edit my account", and click on "directory details and photo".

Shavuot שבועות

• Shavuot Learning and Ice cream party for kids of all ages!! Join us on Shavuot afternoon (Wednesday, 12 June) at 17:00 at Berman. There will be separate Shiurim for the various age groups (Gan, grades 1-3, grades 4-6, grades 7 and up), and then the learning will conclude with lots of yummy ice cream!!
• לימוד וגלידה בשבועות ! ילדי הקהילה מוזמנים לשיעור תורה ביום שבועות אחה״צ בברמן בשעה 17.00 (יום ד׳, 12 ביוני). השיעורים יתחלקו לפי גיל (ילדי גן, כיתות א-ג, כיתות ד-ו וכיתה ז ומעלה). בסוף הלימוד - גלידה!
• Shavuot meal with Geirim. The Berman community will be hosting a group of Converts (some who completed their conversion and others are on the way) to jointly celebrate Shavout. We are hoping to have a communal dinner, and then continue to a joint Tikun L'eil Shavuot. We need volunteers to join for supper and/or take part in the learning. We also need sleeping arrangements for a few converts who are coming from out of town, and those who can host them for lunch. • Looking for activity leader for teens- Shavuot night. For many years, in addition to the Shiurim for adults on Shavuot night, we had a learning activity for the teens (grades 7-9). It usually involved a treasure hunt involving Torah learning and with the clues found from the learning, finding the treasure, with prizes (usually ice cream bars) supplied by the Shul. The Education Committee is looking for one or two individuals who are willing to be in charge of this important function. You are free to design this learning activity as you see fit, as long as it includes both learning and fun, something that will attract kids that age to come and participate. • Scholar-in-residence, this week, Shabbat Bechukotai (1 June), Dr. Michal Shir-El will speak in Hebrew in the context of the Dorshot Tov initiative. Details below.
• כחלק מפעילות שבת "דורשות טוב", פרשת בחוקותי (כ"ד אייר, ה1 ביוני), אנחנו מתכבדים לארח את ד"ר מיכל שיר-אל, מייסדת הקתדרה ללימודי עגנון, חוקרת ומרצה בבצלאל וברחבי הארץ. ד"ר מיכל שיר-אל תתן שתי הרצאות בעברית על הנושאים הבאים:
  1. זוג מן השמים - רבא ובת רב חסדא מסע במרחבי התלמוד בעקבות נשים שאבדו לנו בדרך, לאחר הקידוש שלאחר התפילה ביום שבת בבוקר (בסביבות 10:50)
  2. ארוכה הדרך ל"שלום עולמים" ספר המדינה - סאטירה עגנונית מושחזת ואקטואלית, בדרך לפרס נובל הראשון בישראל, בין מנחה לערבית בשבת אחר הצהריים (בסביבות 19:25; מנחה ב19:05).
