SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS תזכורות, אירועים ופעילויות של בית הכנסת

• Safety rules for Tefillot. Berman’s Shul has adopted safety rules, whether inside or outside of our building, based on MANDATORY Ministry of Health (MoH) and other regulations and precautions. These rules are not optional, and are meant to protect you and everyone around you, during Shul activities.
  *Everyone (excepting infants not in daycare) must wear a mask covering mouth and nose.
  *This includes children, who are welcome to join the outdoor minyan with a mask.
  *If you bring children, we ask you to be mindful of those members who may be more vulnerable, especially if they ask you to sit further from them.
  *Children unable or unwilling to wear a mask, should not approach davening areas.
  *Maintain a minimum distance of 2 meters between persons.
  *Bring your own siddur & chumash.
  *Disinfectant wipes are available – please wipe down your seat after use.
  *Please respect the instructions of the Corona Compliance Officers.
• כללי זהירות. קהילת ברמן אימצה מספר כללי התנהלות למשתתפים בתפילה, בין אם בחוץ או במבנה בית הכנסת, על בסיס תקנות החירום, צווי בריאות העם, והנחיות והוראות מחייבות של משרד הבריאות החלים על פעילות בית הכנסת. כללים אלה אינם אופציונליים ומטרתם להגן עליך ועל כל הסובבים אותך בעת השתתפותך בתפילה ופעילות בית הכנסת.
  *חובה על כל בן אדם לעטות מסכה המכסה את הפה ואת האף (חוץ מתינוקות אשר לא במשפחתון/פעוטון)
  *הנחייה זו כוללת ילדים בכל הגילאים, שמוזמנים להשתתף במניין החיצוני עם מסכה בלבד
  *אם ילדיכם מגיעים, נא להיות רגישים לאלא שנמצאים בקבוצת סיכון, במיוחד אם אתם מתבקשים להתרחק מהם

• Call for divrei Torah. The current corona situation is difficult for community cohesiveness. One "activity" that has become dormant due to the current health situation is the dvar Torah after davening on Shabbat morning. Instead, a link to a dvar Torah is posted on the weekly bulletin (see https://www.bermanshul.org/divrei-torah). This change provides us with an opportunity. Regularly, only one dvar Torah is given weekly and almost always in Hebrew. However, as far as written divrei Torah, there is no limit on the number of divrei Torah posted and no limit on the language either. This is the chance for all of you who fear speaking in public (glossophobia) to have YOUR dvar Torah (no links to divrei Torah on the web please) sent to the community. There is no limit on the length (upper or lower limit) and no language, gender or age restriction. The Education Committee is seeking your original thoughts and insights on the weekly parsha and they wil be published on the shul's website. Please make sure to go over your divrei Torah for clarity and errors (better yet, get another pair of eyeballs to look it over) and send them to education@bermanshul.org. Thank you. And, in general, any ideas to increase the feeling of community among our members are welcomed.
• דברי תורה. לצערנו, המצב הנוכחי בעידן הקורונה אינו מיטיב עם הרגשת הקהילתיות שהייתה מנת חלקינו אך לפני כמה חודשים. "פעילות" אחת שהידלדלה בשל המצב הנוכחי היא דבר התורה שלאחר התפילה בשבת בבוקר. כיום, במקום ה"דרשה", קיים קישור לדבר תורה שמופיע בעלון השבועי (ראה https://www.bermanshul.org/divrei-torah). אנחנו מעוניינים להרחיב פלטפורמה זו ולפתוח אותה לכלל מתפללי בית הכנסת. אין מגבלה על מספר דברי התורה שיכולים להתפרסם וגם אין מגבלה על השפה בה הם כתובים. זוהי גם הזדמנות לכל אלו החוששים לדבר לפני ציבור (גלוסופוביה), שזה כולל את רובינו. לכן, אתם מוזמנים לשלוח דברי תורה משלכם (לא קישורים לדברי תורה ברשת בבקשה) ואנחנו נפרסם אותם באתר בית הכנסת. אין הגבלה באורך (גבול עליון או תחתון) ואין מגבלת שפה, מין, או גיל. ועדת החינוך תקבל ברצון את המחשבות והתובנות המקוריות שלכם על פרשת השבוע. אנא הקפידו להגיה את דברי התורה (עדיף לתת לעוד זוג עיניים לעבור על הטקסט) ושלחו אותם ל education@bermanshul.org. תודה.
• Thank you! to all those who completed our survey for the Yamim Noraim which greatly helped us estimate projected needs. There will be substantial changes in the membership renewal and arrangements for Yamim Noraim this year. Registration and payment instructions will be later than usual, as we evaluate the situation and finalize plans. Stay tuned
• Still bumpy. The Meltzer/Hagra passthrough and the area outside the entrance to Yeshivat Hadarom is still torn up and bumpy, with limited accessibility to strollers, wheelchairs, golfcarts, etc. Please plan your route accordingly when coming to shul.
• Calls to 106 appreciated. As mentioned above, the path between HaGra and Meltzer Streets is being renovated by the Rehovot municipality. During the rainy season, due to poor drainage, this path is often flooded. This is an issue that affects many who attend Bermans. It is not clear whether the current renovations will address this problem or not. Some concerned members tried getting information from the 106 hotline but they were not successful. Now is the time to make sure that these concerns (good drainage and no flooding) are met. Polite and respectful calls to 106 are appreciated and if anyone has other ways to find out more about the city's plans for fixing this problem, it would be greatly appreciated.
• Kaddish. Daniel Schwartz is available to say Kaddish on behalf of people unable to come to shul. Please email Daniel at cantordbsesq@gmail.com with the name of the person for whom you are saying Kaddish, and he will do so at the morning minyan.
