• We are grieved to announce the passing of our member Michael Kaufman z"l, the husband of our member Barbara Kaufman and the father of our member Sharyn Strauss. The funeral took place on Wednesday March 29 in Rehovot. Sharyn and her mother will sit shiva in the Strauss home, Haraz 5/2, Rehovot, through Tuesday morning, April 4. There will be daily Mincha and Maariv minyanim at 18:45 and 19:25 on Thurs/ Sun/ Mon. The number is 08-946-0043. המקום ינחם אותן בתוך שאר אבלי ציון וירושלים 

SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS​​

• Bircat Ha-Ilanot Beginning in Nissan, it  is customary to make a bracha [once a year] on flowering fruit trees (Brachot 43b), but not after the fruit have grown (Shulchan Orach (226:1)). Since the language of the bracha refers to trees in the plural, one should be looking at two flowering trees when saying the bracha, either one tree each of two varieties (preferable) or two trees of the same variety. Outside the shul entrance there is a flowering plum tree whose fruits are small but edible, while next to the pergola there are two flowering olive trees. (Hat tips- J. K. & M.R.). Page 130 in Rinat Yisrael siddur. בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ה' אֱלֹקֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, שֶׁלֹּא חִסֵּר בָּעוֹלָמוֹ כְּלוּם, וּבָרָא בּוֹ בְּרִיּוֹת טוֹבוֹת וְאִילָנוֹת טוֹבוֹת וְנָאוֹת, (כְּדֵי) לֵהָנוֹת בָּהֶן בְּנֵי אָדָם.
• ברְכַּת הָאִילָנוֹת היא ברכה בהלכה היהודית הנאמרת אחת לשנה בחודש ניסן על אילנות מאכל המלבלבים ומוציאים פרחים. הברכה נאמרת על שני אילנות מאכל. מטרת הברכה להודות לבורא על היופי והשפע שברא בעולמו.(Wiki) סידור רינת ישראל דף 130.  בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ה' אֱלֹקֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, שֶׁלֹּא חִסֵּר בָּעוֹלָמוֹ כְּלוּם, וּבָרָא בּוֹ בְּרִיּוֹת טוֹבוֹת וְאִילָנוֹת טוֹבוֹת וְנָאוֹת, (כְּדֵי) לֵהָנוֹת בָּהֶן בְּנֵי אָדָם.
• Maot Hittim. The Zedaka Committee wishes to remind those who have not yet sent their donations for Maot Hittim to do so as soon as possible. Last year we were able to help more than 300 families.  Please be generous and send your contributions this week, so we can reach out to people before the chag. Checks should be made out to “Jacob Berman Community Center". Make sure they are marked on the back “tzedaka pesach”. Those wishing to donate online may do so by bank transfer directly to the shul account: Jacob Berman Community Center, Bank Mizrahi T'fahot, Branch 434 (Rehovot), Account no. 514880. Make sure to specify on the online form that the donation is for Maot Hittim, and send an email to Larry Israel larry.israel@hotmail.com with details of the transfer. • Sale of Chametz. מכירת חמץ The form for selling chametz (Rehovot Rabbinate) is available on the Noticeboard. After completing the form, please return it to Jerry Kriger by putting it in his mailbox at Pinsker 4 [Do not ring the bell!] by Sunday April 9th at 7:30 AM. Tzeddaka checks for Maot Chittim may be delivered in the same manner. Forms left in his mailbox after the deadline will not be brought to the Rabbanut. Jerry also has "hard" copies of the chametz form at morning minyan, which you can complete and submit at Shacharit (deadline- end of davening Sunday April 9th).
• מכירת חמץ. ניתן למצוא טופס למכירת חמץ (דרך רבנות רחובות) בלוח מודעות של בית הכנסת. נא להחזיר את הטפסים המלאים לתיבת הדואר של ג'רי קריגר ברחוב פינסקר 4 (נא לא לצלצל בדלת!) עד יום ראשון, 9/4 בשעה 7:30 בבוקר. ניתן להפקיד צ'קים עבור מעות חיטים באותו אופן. טפסים שמוגשים אחרי הזמן והתאריך הנקובים לא יועברו לרבנות. יש גם עותקים מודפסים בבית כנסת שניתן לבקש מג'רי במניין שחרית במהלך השבוע, שאותם ניתן למלא במקום (מועד אחרון – עד סוף תפילת שחרית ביום ראשון, 9/4).

  Some of the important highlights from the CRC Guide are as follows: 
  * All medication in pill form (whether or not it contains chametz) that one swallows is permitted without special hashgacha. Vitamins and Food supplements do not necessarily fall under this category. 
  * Liquid and chewable medications that contain kitniyot are permitted for one who is ill. 
  * All varieties of body soaps, shampoos and stick deodorants are permitted for use on Pesach regardless of their ingredients. 
  * All types of ointments, creams, nail polish, hand lotions, eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, foot and face powders, and ink and paint may be used regardless of its ingredients.
  * Lipstick, mouthwash and toothpaste which contain Chametz should not be used

  *כל סוגי המשחות, קרמים, לק לציפורניים, תחליבים, תרחיפים, וכל סוגי האיפור: צלליות, עפרון לעיניים (אייליינר), מסקרה, סומק, אבקות לשימוש חיצוני (ידיים ורגליים), ודיו וצבעים ניתנים לשימוש, לא משנה מה הרכיבים.
  *אין להשתמש באודם, מי פה ומשחות שיניים המכילים חמץ.
