- We are saddened to announce the passing of Livia Molnar z”l, the mother of our member Judy Weiss. The funeral is scheduled to take place in Montreal on Thursday morning, 14 September. Judy will be sitting shiva from approximately 19:00 on Thursday, Israel time, through Friday afternoon, 15 September, at her mother’s home in Montreal. Rosh Hashana ראש השנה:
- Rosh Hashana set up. *TONIGHT THURSDAY* As always, we need volunteers to help set up our additional venues for Rosh Hashana. Set-up (hanging Mechitza, arranging benches, and moving the Aron HaKodesh [Hashkama]), for the Beit Midrash, Library, and Hashkama minyans will take place on Thursday night 14 September (to finish in time for late Maariv/Slichot). Setup for Hashkama minyan at 20:45, and setup for Beit Midrash and Library minyanim at 20:30. Please also help restore the rooms immediately after Chag. We are a single community, and everyone's help is appreciated wherever you plan to daven.
- **הערב יום חמישי**ארגון חדרי התפילה עבור מניין בית המדרש, מניין ההשכמה ומנין הספריה. דרושים מתנדבים לעזור לארגן את החדרים ביום חמישי 14 בספטמבר בשעה 20:45 למניין השכמה, ושעה 20:30 למניין ספריה ולבית מדרש, וכן לפרק את המחיצות ולסדר מחדש את החדרים מיד אחרי ערבית במוצאי חג. אנא זכרו כי אנחנו קהילה אחת ובואו לעזור ללא תלות במניין שבו אתם מתכוונים להתפלל (זה לא יקח הרבה זמן).

- Halacha guide. This year the first day of Rosh HaShana falls on Shabbat, leading to several important ritual changes on both days. In addition, because of illness or weakness, some individuals have chosen to pray completely or partially be-yehidut (in the absence of a minyan). The following guide, prepared by Rabbi Aryeh Frimer, will hopefully assist the congregants through these issues. The guide may be seen here or on the Noticeboard.
- Minyan seating. Seating plans will be posted at the entrance of each minyan. People who don't have seat reservations are welcome to sit in any empty seat, but should promptly move when the person assigned to the seat arrives.
- Please bring your own Machzorim to all minyanim. The shul has only a limited number.

- Strollers. Those attending the Shul building (main), Library, and Hashkama minyanim are asked to leave strollers outside the buildings due to crowding, and for fire safety. Strollers may be brought into the back of the Beit Midrash. All the venues are wheelchair accessible with the exception of the Beit Midrash.
- עגלות. מתפללים שמגיעים למניין בבניין בית הכנסת, בספריה ומניין השכמה מתבקשים להשאיר את העגלות מחוץ למבנה. ניתן להכניס עגלות למניין בית המדרש, אך יש להשאירן בחלקו האחורי של החדר. כל המתחמים נגישים לכיסאות גלגלים, למעט בית המדרש.
- Shofar for the home-bound. If you are unable to come to shul, you may contact one of the following people, who will come to your home to blow Shofar. You can also contact Dan Feigelson (052-583-8618, djfeigel@yahoo.com) who is coordinating the efforts. Please also contact Dan if you would like to be added to the list of shofar blowers.

- Looking ahead to Sukkot (I)...Volunteers are needed to host Bermans kids for a Sukkah hop on the first day Chag of Sukkot (in the afternoon). We are hoping for enough volunteers, so 3 different age groups can visit 3 different Sukkahs each. Hosts are asked to provide candy/snacks/drinks for the kids, and [optional but appreciated] a short Dvar Torah. - Looking ahead to Sukkot (II). The hospitality committee would like to help those looking to be hosted in a Sukkah. - The National Council of Young Israel Tishrei Torah Journal (Divrei Torah in English) may be seen at https://view.flipdocs.com/?ID=10026166_261914
- Siyur Slichot at Kfar Ibn Gvirol in Rehovot. This is the seventh consecutive year that a group of community leaders have organized a tour to a particular neighborhood to raise questions about social issues, in the spirit of teshuva and slichot. The tour will focus on stations in the Ibn Gvirol neighborhood, such as education in the community, gmilut chasadim, history (including the aliyah from Yemen), building connections between new and veteran residents, and more. Berman members are invited to join this city-wide tour. We plan to meet on Tuesday, 19.9.23 (the 5th of Tishrei) at 19:30 at Agudat Ahim Synagogue, 18 Hadekal St. Parking is available in the lot behind the synagogue (enter "Shita Malbina St 23 Rehovot" on Waze). The tour is being organized by a group of community groups, including Psifas and the Neighborhood Division of the Municipality. It is free of charge but requires prior registration at this link.
