Mazal tov also to uncles Josh Kalman and Daniel Kalman and all the family.

Bereavement and Memorial:

  • We regret to announce the passing of Leo Honigwachs z"l, the father of our member Judy Shanani. The funeral took place in Montreal, Canada. Judy completed shiva in Montreal, on Wednesday morning, August 24. המקום ינחם אותה בתוך שאר אבלי ציון וירושלים
  • We regret to announce the passing of Deena Greenspan z"l, the sister of our member Ilana Friedlander, and the daughter of our members Aviva and Elchanan Cohen.The funeral took place on Wednesday evening, 24.8, at the Barkan Cemetery in the Shomron. The family will be sitting shiva in the Greenspan home, Rehov Bareket 82 in Sha'arei Tikvah (located between Oranit and Elkanah), through Wednesday morning, 31.8. Ilana can be reached at 053-570-6592, Aviva at 054-217-1903, and Elchanan at 054-217-1902. המקום ינחם אותם בתוך שאר אבלי ציון וירושלים.
  • The Azkara for the fifth Yahrzeit of Ellen Hexter z"l will take place on Sunday, August 28 (24 Menachem Av) at 18:00 at the Rehovot cemetery.

SHUL ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND REMINDERS

  • Membership renewal and holiday seats-- 6 days until the price goes up:
    • Associate (temporary) members who are completing their 2nd year of membership are reminded that they are now required to pay their NIS 2000 building fund contribution with their membership renewal. Please contact Jerry Kriger for more information.  
    • High Holiday seats and membership renewal. The Gabbaim and Board have started to prepare for the High Holidays. The Membership "5777 High Holiday Letter" available on the Noticeboard includes information about seat and membership prices, minyan start times, and address for mailing your checks. The letter's fourth page is a pdf-fillable form (download and then open with Acrobat Reader to enter and save your data; an Excel version is also posted). Printed forms are also available in the shul entrance lobby. Please reserve your seats by returning the form with your check as soon as possible.   • Blood drive. There will be a blood drive in the shul library on Sept 4th between 17:30 and 21:45. Please bring a photo ID.  
  • Son of Saul- additional screening. Due to the tragedy that befell the kehilla on Tisha B'Av, causing many people to miss the showing, there will be a second screening of Son of Saul on Sunday Sept 4 from 8:00 PM in the shul. 
  • Congratulations to Team Berman for their silver trophy in the Rehovot City-wide Shul Basketball Playoffs.

  • Bermans theater night. English musical "Sisters!   • Help wanted: The Shul is looking for a Kiddush Manager (paying job). Must have access to a car and be flexible to work as necessary during the week and on Fridays.   • Looking for adoptive families. The Masa program of Israel Teaching Fellows Rechovot “Maase Olam” is looking for adoptive families for post college Americans between the ages of 22-28 who will be arriving in Rechovot September 2016. The “Maase Olam” program integrates teaching English in elementary schools, volunteering in the community along with Israeli peers, social activism and learning with an emphasis on Jewish identity and Israeli culture. These volunteers have come to Israel highly motivated to deepen their connection with Israel through working with Israeli youth in educational and non-formal settings. This year 2016-2017 there will be 14 volunteers who will be in Israel through the end of June. The “Adoption” is voluntary and entails hosting Shabbat meals (around once a month) and Holidays and an overall “keeping in touch”.
